Hey everybody, Im going to start a little thread that will keep track of my truck and how it has come along to where its at/will be at.

So ill start with what ive already done:
Here was my first project on my truck, the prerunner bumper, i built it when i was 16.

Then was the rear bumper as i was tired of getting high centered on the hitch and bumper, so i made one for a little more clearance, its made out of 1/4" thick plates, with a 2 1/2" .250" wall DOM tube through the center for bracing.

Ive just started putting in my new 10" SAWS with stock a-arms, and a shock hoop. So far here is what Ive got:

Truck goes in the backyard, where it will stay for about a week. Yes, I have my tow strap wrapped around my bumper. Leave me alone. I only get like 3 hours each day to work on it after school, so this weekend i should be able to knock it all out! (hopefully)

I will continually update this thread with my progess!

B!tchin! cant wait to see this build progress. you gonna be reinforcing the frame and shock hoops right? i'm sure you been talkin to nick about it lol.

#4 ·
Oh nick has been helping me for the past 3 or 4 months lol. Nick is a VERY nice guy, and very helpful! I would always recommend him! As for the build right now, yes, the frame is getting plated with 1/4" Steel (I like overkill :thedevil: ) then a lot of reinfocing with the tubing!

Im as anxious as you are guys!

Remember when you mount your shocks that you will have more drop travel with a long travel kit that your stock arms so be sure to mount your shock low enough so you arent limited by you shock when you throw on some new arms. Although with some 10" shocks I doubt you could mount them high enough to have to worry about that. lol

you should put your sway bar back on after installing the c/o's ;) ha

#10 ·
I removed my sway bar after I installed my Radflos and the ride is great but on high speed corners like on ramps and you hit a bump my truck gets alot of sway and you really have to concentrate around corners. The body roll is so much fun around corners though feels like a built truck lol. After I install my traction bars I am going to try and remove the bar again but until then the drive up I 17 up and down the mountain needs the sway bar for those corners or I just go too fast to hear my truck echo off the mountain.

Cant wait to see pictures of the install.
I want to do a shock tower and grind off the stock coil bucket just so I can mount my reservoirs on them!

#11 ·
Ill tell you, cutting off the coilbucket/bump stop took the longest, i was using a grinder with a cut off wheel and it was working great, very fast, just couldn't get to certain parts, so we broke out the torch! :teeth:

Ya i have thought about doing it just need someone that can weld it up.
My stock coil bucket is all trimmed up to make room for the droop and my external reservoir hose wanted to rub on the drivers side so I ground out a knotch so it wouldn't rub.

I was joking about the sway bar haha.

and ya bro, i miss the drives up the 17 to flagstaff in my old truck with the banks catback. haulin *** around the slow drivers and scaring them with the banks.

More progress!

Well, i finally got the rest of the coilbucket cut off, and all the grinding is done, the mounts on the LCA for the shocks have been removed, and the coilbucket has been ground down to just the frame. Just need to cut the 1/4" plate to shape and weld it in, then on to the actual shock hoop!

that'd be so fun to hack off the coilbuckets.
