Re:04 Titan R&R Std Diff 4 A Posi, D-Locker Carrier Or R&R OEM Rear End
Sorry for the length of this post
I have recently purchased a 2004 Titan 4x2 Crew Cab that's only got 59K on the drive train for mileage. I would like to improve the traction by replacing the OEM Standard Differential with a either a suitable posi-traction / limited slip carrier or locate a replacement rear end with the correct gear ratio (streets and commuting freeway not 4x4 or off road).
I know Nissan does not have a lot of options for OEM gearing and/or carries swaps in later vehicles where small parts are not available and you must replace assemblies. "Need a bushing? Need to Buy the Transmission" ,"I have seen dealers do this for years and parts managers following protocol do this since the 80's crap cars.
My next though is an OEM Rear End out of another Vehicle that came with this as a factory option as 4x4 or 4x2 but I would need a VIN and application from 2004 to order a rear end new for that price I should just build my own.
I have not yet had time to research interchange years / options with the Titans Builds, Production dates, and so on and That's why I am asking here or at the wreckers who by virtual experience and making a living will really know whats going on over Nissan Dealers following protocol.
Last but not least is the aftermarket sector Gear Companies, Truck Drive line shops,Off Road, racing, suspension shops producing drive line, suspension, steering and break parts, and nothing like good old Yankee Ingenuity someone with willingness do it and a TIG Welder and a Machine Shop with tools at your disposal helps too.
So I read some posts and it looks like several people have been down this path before with Axle leaks and side gear leak/wear issues. I am sure there is a hand full who have overcome this and I saw Curie Enterprise are currently or is considering or converting to Dana Model 60 Axles in the rear and Dana 44 in the front of the 4x4 and I saw some talk of 9" rings Possibly from a Ford Det. Locker or? Knowing these differentials myself and seeing a in other post by POPS mentioned the Detroit True track Locker in earlier models up to 2008 but I am not sure if this is fit into the OEM Titan housing, uses the same axles & sines are the same or what? so I have some questions for anyone and everyone who may know.
Does anyone know or have handy, The TITAN years with interchangeable Parts?
Or the dimensions of the earlier housings (2004 in my case) TITAN housing for the following:
Over all Width: = Axle Outer Flange to Axle Flange?
Dimensions across the inside of the rear Disk Backing Plates?
Diameter or Rear Disks?
Dimensions in width of the Pin C\L between the Mounts for rear Leaf Springs?
Dominions in Width for mounts between Rear Shocks?
Does anyone have a number / location for Currie Ent. So I may contact them with questions directly? I have some questions for the owner(s)or person doing the work.n Has anyone done business with them or talked in more detail with them about this? And anyone know if this is Drive line or late model Truck Shop?Anyone know them or hat their skill level of work is, type parts that will be using, in the final product From Currie Ent?
Please advise if you have the inside answers or done the research already Add I would appreciate and return the favor if I can one day.
